Welcoming Artist Rebecca Hardaker

We are pleased to present the work of emerging British contemporary painter Rebecca Hardaker who is gaining recognition for the tactile approach to her large-scale vibrant compositions.

Working directly with her hands, she immerses herself in the physicality of her paintings, applying and removing layers of paint across canvases as large as the artist herself. As she draws her fingers across the surface, she combs the pigment into dense pockets of colour, creating a rhythmic, mirage-like quality. Floral elements and gestural marks shoot upwards across the canvas with a sense of immediacy, bringing vitality to her work.

Lines drawn from poetry serve as an evocative foundation that shapes the emotional tone and narrative of her work. She embraces spontaneity, allowing some areas of the canvas to remain raw while others are reworked through multiple layers, balancing freedom with control. Her abstract compositions guide the viewer’s eye across the canvas, creating a compelling sense of movement and rhythm. This tactile, immersive approach lends her work a palpable physicality and a rich, emotional depth, evoking fever dreams that resonate with both scale and vitality.

Hardaker studied Classical Studies at the University of Manchester. Her work has been exhibited in several shows across the UK since 2019, including a solo exhibition at the Fitzrovia Gallery in London. She was selected as ‘Director’s Pick’ in 2022 The Other Art Fair, with features in FAD magazine, rakesprogress magazine & Saatchi Art.
