Kingsford Gallery is proud to welcome documentary photographer Edward Thompson to its roster of represented artists. A photographer for 20 years working across film and digital, you may well have seen his photographs in National Geographic Magazine, The Guardian or on the BBC. The work we will be showing is from his opus of rare deadstock infrared film photography from his book The Unseen: An Atlas of Infrared Plates. The book contains a dozen different photo-series from still life to astrophotography, including abstracts made inside Icelandic glaciers and scenes of the radioactive Red Forest of Chernobyl, Ukraine. Thompson’s haunting and uncanny imagery reimagines the world, invigorating the mundane with an extraordinary blood-red hue, compelling us to redefine our perspectives.
